KidsPack Lakeland, FL

“It isn’t complicated, there’s an issue that needs to be solved. Unfortunately, it’s a problem invisible to many, even in a community as giving as Polk County. It all begins with community awareness.”

— Patty Strickland, Executive Director

In an attempt to start a conversation about the serious issue of child hunger and to possibly make a change – I’m here to introduce you to KidsPACK. KidsPACK is an organization that collects and distributes food to homeless and hungry children. They have served over 10,000 meals to children in my hometown of Lakeland, Florida, alone.

A large majority of the work done is from volunteers. The process is down to a science, but it lands on the volunteers' backs to make it happen. The dedication of the employees, volunteers, and community outreach is what feeds these hungry children.

KidsPACK has been a part of the Polk County community for upwards of 10 years and has become a staple in schools and churches. KidsPACK is providing the physiological needs that so many children are lacking. Food is an important part of child development, and KidsPACK has taken it upon themselves to try and lift up children in the community – as they are the future. It’s important for me to emphasize the mental and physical good KidsPACK can do for Polk County children – and hopefully beyond. I need to emphasize how much volunteering, sponsoring, and caring can help an organization like KidsPACK.
